June 2026 – The Stamps Scholars Program is proud to announce its 21st class of Stamps Scholars, welcoming 393 exceptional students from 34 partner institutions across the United States this fall. Selected from a highly competitive pool of approximately 655,000 applicants, these Scholars represent some of the most accomplished and promising student leaders in the world.
The newest class joins a thriving community of more than 4,400 current Scholars and alumni connected across 53 partner institutions. Together, they form a dynamic network of innovators, researchers, artists, entrepreneurs, scientists, and advocates who are making meaningful contributions within their institutions, professions, and communities.
Founded in 2006 by E. Roe Stamps and his late wife, Penny, the Stamps Scholars Program has grown into one of the nation’s premier merit scholarship communities, investing in students whose extraordinary academic achievement is matched by exceptional leadership, initiative, creativity, and potential for long-term impact. Through a combination of multi-year financial support, enrichment funding, mentorship, and cross-campus collaboration, the program empowers Scholars to pursue ambitious goals and transformative educational experiences.
“My late wife Penny and I created the Stamps Scholars program to help extraordinary students change the trajectories of their lives,” said E. Roe Stamps, benefactor of the Stamps Scholars Program. “Over the past two decades, our students have demonstrated what talented young people can accomplish when they are given the resources and freedom to pursue their goals.”
The 2026 cohort reflects a remarkable breadth of interests, experiences, and aspirations. Many Scholars have already distinguished themselves through original research, startup ventures, nonprofit leadership, artistic achievement, advocacy initiatives, and service within their local communities. While Scholars pursue a wide range of academic and professional paths, they are united by intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a strong commitment to contributing meaningfully to the world around them.
This year’s incoming class includes students in two graduate-level Stamps programs: the Georgia Tech Stamps Fellows Program for doctoral researchers and the PennVet Stamps Fellows Program for students pursuing VMD and VMD-PhD degrees in veterinary medicine.
Stamps Scholarships are awarded in partnership with leading universities and typically cover up to the full cost of attendance for undergraduate or, in select cases, graduate study. In addition to financial support, Scholars receive enrichment funding that allows them to pursue transformative opportunities beyond the classroom, including study abroad, research, internships, conference participation, leadership training, and independent projects around the world.
2026 Dartmouth College graduate Josué Godeme, who will continue his studies as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University, reflected on the impact of the program:
“The Stamps Scholarship gave me the freedom to travel, to build, to show up fully to every opportunity Dartmouth offered, and to pursue research that actually mattered to me – developing the first speech and translation systems for Adja, a language spoken by my family in Benin that major AI platforms do not currently support,” said Godeme. “Because of it, I was able to conduct research that got published and presented at international conferences, launch a product with real users, earn a Schwarzman Scholarship, and grow into someone who can lead.”
Increasingly, the Stamps experience extends far beyond an individual campus. Through cross-campus programming, leadership expeditions, and collaborative opportunities hosted by partner institutions, Scholars build lasting relationships with peers across the network. Notable experiences have included a backpacking expedition through Norway focused on leadership development, Outward Bound excursions in the Florida Keys and Costa Rica, opportunities to present research at partner institutions, and this summer’s educational expedition to Rapa Nui, led by renowned archaeologist Dr. Terry Hunt.
Over the past two decades, Stamps Scholars alumni have earned prestigious honors including Fulbright, Gates Cambridge, Goldwater, Marshall, Rhodes, Schwarzman, and Truman Scholarships. Alumni have also gone on to pursue advanced degrees at institutions such as Cornell, Harvard, MIT, Oxford, and Stanford, while contributing to leading companies, research institutions, hospitals, nonprofits, startups, and public service organizations around the world.
As the 21st class begins its journey, the Stamps Scholars Program continues its mission of empowering exceptional students to pursue ambitious goals, serve others, and lead lives of purpose and impact.
