How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship allowed me to find and then shape my learning process. Through this experience, I was given the freedom to put all of my energy and attention into a project that I wasn’t able to explore in a class setting and for that I’m very thankful. It’s definitely shaped me as a problem solver, made me appreciate the process of research and has made me sure of going to graduate school! and for that I’m very thankful!

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
I actually started the Stamps Scholarship program in my sophomore summer so halfway through my college career but I’m definitely very thankful that I got the opportunity to do this at all. I would definitely encourage myself to apply and perhaps allow myself more freedom to find my passion through this scholarship and spend time on topics that I find interesting as my interests evolve and change through time.

Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
There are few people that have always believed in me and have as a result, encouraged me to do my best even when the odds were very much against me. Danielle Hussey, Brian Reed, Miles Blencowe and Sebastian Munoz Medina have definitely been that for me at Dartmouth.

What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
Definitely getting the chance to talk to families with members with cancer, learning about their stories and their ways of adapting to life with cancer as a “member of the family” and the photography component that has gone with that part of the project.

What comes next?
I’m looking for some postgraduate opportunities for my coming gap year and hopefully graduate school after that!
